El 2 de febrero de 2019, más de 10 millones de usuarios se congregaron en Pleasant Park, un suburbio de la isla imaginaria de Fortnite, para ver en acción al DJ y productor estadounidense conocido como Marshmello. No fue el primer concierto virtual en la historia de los videojuegos —hubo iniciativas similares en Second Life, por ejemplo—, pero la escala de esto superó cualquier pronóstico. El negocio de la música creyó ver cómo se rompían los antiguos límites: en este futuro no había sobreventa de tickets ni cuerpos transpirados. While the novel coronavirus spreads in Brazil, President Jair Bolsonaro has demonstrated an alarming inability to govern the country, undermining the pandemic and efforts to protect and save lives. And as a result of his irresponsible and divisive behavior, he has thrown Brazil into a deep crisis. He must be removed from office.

Brazilians are feeling a lot of anxiety and can no longer bear this lack of leadership. For weeks, they have protested from their homes by banging saucepans and shouting “Bolsonaro out” from their windows. Support for his impeachment has risen drastically, according to Atlas Politico, with almost half of the population backing his removal.…  Seguir leyendo »

As of March 24, India’s 1.3 billion people are in a three-week lockdown in response to the novel coronavirus pandemic. Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave citizens only a few hours’ warning before announcing: “Every state, every district, every lane, every village will be under lockdown”.

India had already moved swiftly to restrict domestic and international air travel amid the outbreak of the virus that causes the disease covid-19. The government had suspended visas and quarantined passengers arriving from China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, France and Germany. Starting March 22, all international commercial flights were banned from landing in India until April 14.…  Seguir leyendo »

Si, comme le dit l’adage, la vérité est la première victime de la guerre, la seconde pourrait bien être une chose à laquelle le monde entier accorde une grande importance par les temps qui courent: les soins de santé. Les familles qui fuient la guerre ou se retrouvent prises dans ses griffes savent que l’assistance médicale est un bien précieux et rare dans une zone de conflit. Au beau milieu des bombes qui tombent et des balles qui fusent, une structure de santé opérationnelle est un havre de survie; mais dans ces situations, le personnel médical est presque toujours débordé et les stocks de médicaments proches de l’épuisement.…  Seguir leyendo »
