The Biden administration is pressing ahead with the planned withdrawal of international forces from Afghanistan. Early gestures by the Taliban suggested it was willing to demobilize in exchange for a negotiated settlement. But do border walls cut down on crime? Our research on the separation barrier erected by Israel in the West Bank suggests not.

Here’s how we did our research

In a recent paper, we studied whether the initial phase of wall construction in the West Bank, between 2000 and 2004, reduced vehicle thefts in Israel. During that period, the Israeli wall was partially constructed, much as is true for the U.S. border wall.…  Seguir leyendo »
